That’s why we’re thrilled to announce that Dr. Lydia Shedlofsky, DO, affectionately known as Dr. Shed, has been named a Top Doc in dermatology.

Based in our Wilmington office, Dr. Shed brings warmth, energy, and deep clinical skill to every patient she sees. Her passion lies in skin cancer detection, prevention, and treatment, and she provides comprehensive care within a unique practice model that combines plastic surgery, Mohs surgery, and dermatology in one location.

Nationally Trained, Locally Rooted

Originally from Lexington, Kentucky, Dr. Shed’s path to medicine has taken her across the globe. After earning her undergraduate degree from Guilford College in North Carolina, she served as a medical research assistant in Mozambique, then went on to earn both her Master’s in Medical Education and Doctorate of Osteopathic Medicine from the Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine.

She completed her internship at Larkin Community Hospital in Miami and her dermatology residency at Honor Health in Arizona.

Dr. Shed is board certified by both the American Board of Dermatology and the American Osteopathic Board of Dermatology. She also holds professional certifications in General Dermatology and Mohs Surgery from the American Academy of Dermatology and the American Osteopathic College of Dermatology, reflecting her commitment to advanced training and continued excellence in patient care.

Dr. Shed is an active member of several prominent professional organizations, including:

• The American Society of Mohs Surgery
• The American Society of Dermatopathology
• The Skin of Color Society

Through these roles, she stays on the leading edge of dermatological advances and brings the highest standards of care to her patients.

More Than Medicine: A Personal Mission

Dr. Shed’s dedication goes far beyond credentials. As a cancer survivor, she brings a powerful sense of empathy to her work and a deep understanding of the patient experience. Her personal journey fuels her passion for education, prevention, and early detection.

She regularly volunteers her time for free skin cancer screenings, delivers educational talks at local schools, and supports organizations such as the Melanoma Research Foundation and the American Cancer Society. She is also a mentor, a published researcher, and an advocate for animal welfare worldwide.

Outside the Office

When she’s not in the clinic, Dr. Shed enjoys bird watching, spending time with her two pups, and restoring antique cars with her husband, Andrew. She’s excited to return to her Southern roots and continue serving the Carolinas with heart and excellence.
