Earlobe Repair or Reduction

Earlobes often will become stretched and torn over time from heavy earrings, snagging clothes, or maybe an adoring child. Gravity and genetics also contribute a misshaped earlobe.

Whatever, the cause, earlobe repairs and reductions are fairly simple and straight forward procedures that are done under a local anesthesia. In most cases, the earlobe may be re-pierced in about three months after the repair.

Am I a good candidate for earlobe repair/reduction?
If you have an enlarged, torn, stretched, or damaged earlobe/s you may be a good candidate for earlobe repair or reduction. During your consultation, Dr. Ricciardelli will discuss the changes that you can expect with this procedure.
What do I need to do before surgery?
At your consultation, Dr. Ricciardelli will discuss this fast and simple procedure that may be performed immediately after an injury or delayed until the tissue is no longer inflamed. In most casing the repositioned tissue will be closed with sutures that are removed in 7-10 days.
What can I expect during and after surgery?
You will be given detailed instructions for your specific needs. Most patients do not complain of pain after surgery but a mild discomfort. On average, most patients are able to re-pierce their ears in about 3 months.  A lot will depend on how quickly you heal. Everyone is different. Our door is always open for any questions.
